The Zend PHP 5.3 certification program is designed specifically for PHP developers who have an adequate understanding of day-to-day job tasks related to databases and regular expressions. The exam required to earn this certification consists of 70 questions that, if passed, will earn participants the PHP 5.3 certification, an upgrade to the ZCE certification.
Among the exam topics will be PHP basics, such as syntax and control structures, and databases, with the focus of this exam being standard SQL databases and Perl regular expressions. Two other core topics will be tested: security and object oriented programming. Participants should have an understanding of security configuration, data storage, SQL injection, cross-site scripting, and other processes. Regarding object oriented programming, knowledge of such things as reflection, instantiation, exceptions and interfaces will be highly beneficial.
Experience in code analysis and evaluation is recommended, as this is not only what a majority of the test questions will be about, but also what will be worked with on a daily basis in a PHP job position. A training course specific to this certification program is available for enrollment on the Zend website. Also available is a PHP 5.3 study guide and webinar. As a holder of this certification, individuals will have the upper-hand in their career. It serves as a consistent measure of technical competence by which most employers abide.
