The VMware Certified Advanced Professional on vSphere 4 - Datacenter Design intermediate level certification is intended for virtual environment professionals and IT consulting architects with at least two years of experience working with vSphere 4. Design and implementation of large enterprise solutions is the main topic; the ability to apply Datacenter concepts and infrastructure relationships is fundamental.
To become certified, candidates must have earned the VCP4 certification and passed the VCAP4-DCD exam, which will consist of 113 questions in a 225 minute timeframe. A large portion of the exam will be design methodologies, such as site recovery, protocols, and inter-connectivity, which are consistent in solution design. The relationship between physical and virtual infrastructure, as well as the role of infrastructure components in storage and networking concepts, will also be major exam topics.
Two VMware courses - Design Workshop and DRBC Design: Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Fundamentals - can be taken at advance and specialize your knowledge. Training books, study guides and additional resources can also be accessed. By earning this certification, professionals will have validated the skills necessary to develop and implement solutions in complex, multi-site environments.
