The PDI+ (CompTIA Printing and Document Imaging) certification is targeted towards those professionals who provide support and service to printing and document imaging devices. These devices include printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, and multi-functional devices. Candidates with this certification must be skilled in installing, connecting, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting each of these devices.
During their daily job roles, professionals with this certification require knowledge of fundamental electromechanical components, processes, and tools. They also must understand the processes and components related to print engine and scan, color theory, connectivity, and networking.
Since professionals with this certification typically are required to work with the public, they must also possess non-technical skills required to perform their duties effectively. These skills include understanding customer service, safety, environment, communication, and general professionalism.
In order to earn the PDI+ (CompTIA Printing and Document Imaging) certification, candidates must pass the PD0-001 PDI+ exam. Each exam contains 85 questions which must be completed within 90 minutes. A score of 675, out of a possible 900, is considered a passing score. Training is recommended, but not required.
After earning certification, candidates typically work in job roles such as field service technician, help desk technician, network support technician, or customer service technician for companies such as Xerox, Sharp, and Canon.
