Microsoft 98-361 : Software Development Fundamentals Exam
The Microsoft 98-361 (Software Development Fundamentals) exam is intended for individuals looking to expand and certify their knowledge of core software development skills. Taking this exam serves as an introduction to the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist exams. It is only available in the English language.
Before registering for the exam, participants should be equipped with experience using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (Professional Edition) and familiarity with the related concepts and technologies. To gain a further depth of knowledge, the Learning Plan for Software Development Fundamentals classroom training course is available to take. An online practice exam can also be taken in preparation for this proctored test.
Participants must demonstrate a solid of understanding of several concepts, including:
1. Web and Desktop Applications - Participants must know features of Web hosting, services, and page development. Knowledge of console-based and Windows Forms desktop applications is also required.
2. Databases and General Software Development - Participants will be asked questions regarding query and connection methods, relational database management systems, application specifications and management, and data structures.
3. Core and Object-Oriented Programming - Participants should be able to describe such things as computer storage, decision structures, and data types. Participants must explain processes such as inheritance, encapsulation, and polymorphism.
