LPI 117-302 : LPI Level 3 Exam 302 Exam
The successful completion of the LPI Level 3 Exam 302 will entitle candidates to the specialty designation: LPI 302: Mixed Environments. The exam number for this test is 117-302. The exam is currently available only in the English and Japanese languages, and a candidate will be allotted 90 minutes in which to complete the exam.
The most important topic that will be covered on the LPI 117-302 exam is Configuration. Key knowledge areas that a candidate will need to be familiar with include knowledge of Samba server configuration file structure, knowledge of Samba variables and configuration parameters, key TCP/UDP ports used with SMB/CIFS, and how to configure Samba logging.
An equally important topic that will also be addressed on the exam includes Authentication and Authorization. This is a subtopic of the User and Group Management portion of the test. Key knowledge areas for this part of the test include knowing how to manage user and group accounts, how to force ownership of file and directory objects, and an understanding of user and group mapping.
Other topics that will appear on the LPI 117-302 exam include Installation and Development, Concepts, Architecture, and Design, User and Group Management, and Security and Performance. In order to prepare for the test, a candidate is encouraged to study the syllabus carefully.
