LPI 117-101 : LPI Level 1 Exam 101 Exam
The LPI 117-101: LPI Level 1 Exam 101 is a necessary step for those who wish to achieve their LPI Certification Level 1. The majority of the content of this test will cover basic skills for the Linux professional that are common to major distributions of Linux. A candidate will be provided with 90 minutes in which to complete this exam.
The content of the LPI 117-101 exam can be divided into 4 primary Categories: LPI System Architecture, Linux Installation and Package Management, GNU and Unix Commands, and Devices, Linux Filesystems, and Filesystem Hierarchy Standard. Examples of the topics that will arise under System Architecture include booting the system and how to shut down or reboot a system.
For the second portion of the 117-101 exam, subtopics that will arise include design hard disk layout, how to install a boot manager, how to manage shared libraries, and how to use Debian package management. Under the Linux Filesystems, a candidate will need to demonstrate their knowledge of how to work on the line command and how to process text streams using filters, amongst other topics.
For the final portion of the exam, Filesystem Hierarchy Standard, a candidate should expect to be tested on how to maintain the integrity of Filesystems, control mounting and unmounting of Filesystems, and how to manage disk quotas.
