IFPUG I40-420 : Certified Function Point Specialist (CFPS) Exam
The IFPUG I40-420 Certified Function Point Specialist exam has been designed to certify that a successful candidate has developed an expertise in both knowledge and application of the IFPUG counting rules according to the IFPUG Counting Practices Manual. This exam can be divided into three primary sections, and a candidate will be allotted 180 minutes in which to complete the test. This exam is generally only conducted in English.
The first portion of the IFPUG I40-420 test is the Definition section. It will consist of 50 multiple choice questions. This portion of the test is devoted to testing a candidate's knowledge of the definitions and rules of the International Function Point Users Group.
The second portion of the I40-420 exam is the Implementation section, which will also consist of 50 multiple choice questions. This portion of the exam has been developed to test the individual's knowledge of definitions and rules, and directly tests the individual's ability to apply the definitions and rules through small story problems.
The final section of this exam is the Case Study section. Here, a candidate will be provided with 2-3 case studies. Each of these case studies will have 50-55 associated line items. This portion of the exam will test the individual's ability to apply the definitions and rules of the CPM using varying case topics.
