IBM COG-185 Exam Description and Topics

This 90-minute IBM COG-185 (IBM Cognos 8 Migration Professional) exam is intended for professionals endeavoring to obtain certification as a IBM Certified Solution Expert-Cognos 8 BI Migration. Exam participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency that is required for planning, estimating, and implementing the migration of Series 7 to Cognos 8 BI. At this time, the COG-185 exam is offered only in the English language.

Candidates will answer 70 items that are categorized into seven sections that address different facets of Cognos 8 Migration. Examples of expected topics are as follows: Migration Assessment (e.g. describing the methodology and steps involved), Migration Planning, including the pre-assessment process, Migration Approaches (e.g. describe impacts of using different tools and approaches), Migration Execution, Migration Concepts, Series 7 Concepts and Terminology, and PowerPlay Migration (e.g. identifying content that can be migrated and differences between Series 7 PowerPlay and Cognos 8 PowerPlay). Other topics and additional items requiring description or explanation may also appear on the exam.

In preparation for the COG-185 exam, candidates are encouraged to utilize IBM's learning resources that correspond with this exam and certification. These tools are available as classroom courses and self-paced virtual classroom. IBM also offers sample assessment tests for examinees to use a gauge of their readiness for the actual exam.
