Two tracks are available for the IBM Certified Database Associate certification. For those professionals who are interested in earning the Informix Dynamic Server (11.50) Fundamentals track, the certification validates their entry level knowledge of DBA and DB2 products. Additionally, those professionals who pursue certification on the fundamentals track are certified as having the skills related to DB2 9, basic and intermediate daily administration tasks, and Structured Query Language. These associates also understand databases, including database objects, database security, and transaction isolation. To pursue this track, candidates must pass the 000-730 - DB2 9 Family Fundamentals exam.
The second available track is Informix Dynamic Server (11.50) Fundamentals, which is achieved through passing the 000-555 - IBM Informix Dynamic Server 11.50 Fundamentals exam. This track's target audience includes entry level technical professionals who specialize in programming, system design, and architecture. Also, candidates are particularly well trained for this track if their skills include entry level database administration or they are university students whose course of study includes information technology application. Certification in this track validates a candidate's knowledge of security, planning, globalization, tools, and data concurrency. Knowledge of IDS data, tables, views, and indexes is also acknowledged through this track.
