Individuals can become an IBM Certified Application Developer in 18 different software programs. Application developers can certify their application development skills in a track of their choosing, as a way to enhance their role and status in their company. It is assumed that all candidates will come equipped with at least 6 months of practical experience and foundational knowledge of application development and the related software.
Certification can be earned in five WebSphere products (including ILOG JRules, Commerce and Transformation Extender), four Rational products (including Application Developer and Developer for System z), DB2, Enterprise PL/I, TRIRIGA Application Platform, Lotus, Informix, and Workplace Web Content Management. Each track will require a passing score on 1-3 exams and may require a prerequisite certification before earning.
Different resources are available for training and studying purposes, depending on the exam. Participants can best prepare by enrolling in a training course, available in-class and online, and by taking advantage of the study guides, practice exams and other content resources that are available.
