Participants can earn the IBM Certified Administrator certification via a number of different IBM programs. Administrators can certify their design, configuration, deployment and troubleshooting skills that are commonly used in daily job tasks. Comprehensive knowledge of the product and environment is needed to ensure that basic to intermediate operation of content and servers is effectively in place.
Individuals will oversee the administration of several tasks related to the software at hand, including installation, management, security, performance, troubleshooting, and customization. Certification is available in two Tivoli products - Storage Manager 6.2 and Monitoring 6.2.3 - and two Rational products - BuildForge and UCM Fundamentals, as well as Sterling Connect: Direct, TRIRIGA, Cognos 10 BI, Lotus Notes & Domino 8, and SOA Solutions WebSphere Process Server. All can be achieved with a passing score on a single exam, except for the WebSphere and Lotus/Domino certification, which require a passing score on 2-3 tests.
Because of the level of the material, it is a necessity that all candidates obtain practical, on the job experience with the product of their choice. Although training courses, study guides and practice exams are available to prepare for this exam, the core of the material will focus on skills and abilities that can only be acquired through hands-on training of the product and job role.
