IBM 000-731 : DB2 9 DBA for Linux UNIX and Windows Exam
The IBM 000-731 exam is for professionals who work with DB2 9 and perform tasks that involve day-to-day administration duties. A passing score on this exam satisfies the requirements for a variety of IBM Certified Advanced Database Administrator and Advanced Deployment Professional certifications. Exam items will require the candidate to demonstrate their skills in a variety of tasks that are directly related to administrative job responsibilities that utilize DB2 9.
The IBM 000-731 (DB2 9 DBA for Linux UNIX and Windows) exam consists of 69 questions that are divided into seven main topic categories. The following represents a sample of exam topics that the candidates encounter on the exam. -DB2 Server Management (configuring/managing DB2 instances, scheduling jobs, configuring client/server connectivity, using automatic maintenance).
-Data Placement (creating databases, creating & manipulating various DB2 objects, compression data, XML structure).
-Database Access (creating views and constraints on tables, creating and managing indexes, using GUI tools for administration).
-Analyzing DB2 Activity (capturing snapshots using Get Snapshots or SQL functions, creating and activating event monitors, identifying functions of Problem Determination Tools).
-Utilities (using EXPORT, IMPORT, and LOAD utilities for moving data, using the DB2 Control Center, using REORG, REORGCHK, REBIND, and RUNSTATS utilities).
-High Availability (knowledge of database logging, crash recover, version recovery, performing HADR and Log Mirroring, etc.)
-Security (DB2 authentication, authorizations, and security infrastructure)
A wide range of non-required courses and learning resources are available related to the various facets of DB2 9. IBM recommends that candidates partake in training courses and self-assessment to gauge their progress en route to their certification.
