IBM 000-617 : DB2 10 System Administrator for z/OS Exam
The IBM 000-617 (DB2 10 System Administrator for z/OS) exam contains 63 questions designed to test a candidate's knowledge and abilities related to the planning, installation, management, tuning, and security of DB2 for the z/OS environments. Candidates are given 90 minutes to take the exam, during which they must score at least a 60% in order to pass.
There are 6 sections on the IBM 000-617 exam. The largest portion of the exam is devoted to performance and tuning and makes up 22% of the exam. During this portion, candidates will be given a scenario and asked to analyze performance. Concepts such as buffer pools, DSNZPARMs, manual RUNSTATS, and autonomic RUNSTATS will be tested during this section. Security and auditing, system operation and maintenance, installation and migration, backup and recovery, and troubleshooting make up the remaining portions of the exam.
Optional preparation for the exam includes the courses "DB2 for z/OS New Functions and Features in V10" and "DB2 for z/OS - New Features in Version 10." Candidates are encouraged to review the DB2 10 for z/OS Information Center and review the product documentation found in "DB2 10 for z/OS Technical Overview" and "Extremely pureXML in DB2 10 for z/OS."
