HIPAA HIO-301 : Certified HIPAA Security Specialist (CHSS) Exam
The content of the HIPAA HIO-301 Certified HIPAA Security Specialist (CHSS) exam can be split into four separate sections. The first portion of the test is going to cover an overview of HIPAA. In this module, a candidate will be expected to be able to estimate implementation costs, know the HIPAA rules that apply specifically to them in a given situation, and know potential state law conflicts.
The second portion of the HIPAA HIO-301 exam is going to be devoted to covering privacy rules. For example, a candidate will need to demonstrate that they know when they will be able to use or disclose PHI. Other additional topics that can arise on this portion of the exam include government access to PHI, notice of Privacy Practice, and the minimum necessary standard.
The third section of this exam will cover transactions and code sets. Subtopics that will appear on this portion of the exam include diagnostic and procedure codes, physician's office and dental codes, National Health Plan Identifier, and drug codes.
The final portion of the HIO-301 exam will be devoted to testing a candidate's knowledge of security. For example, he or she will need to define what security is, the approach and philosophy of implemented security measures, and administrative safeguards.
