CIW 1D0-520 : CIW Web Design Specialist Exam
The CIW 1D0-520 Web Design Specialist examination is a 75-minute test with 70 questions total. It is required for the CIW Web Design Specialist certification and will test knowledge of web design process and features, such as design theory, tools, and best practices. This program is designed at a more advanced level; candidates starting out in this field are recommended to begin with the CIW Site Development Foundations program, in which basic information is learned.
Several training resources are available, including an instructor-led or self-study training course, Web Design Specialist (CS5). Candidates are encouraged to take this course, as information presented in it will follow exam format. Other materials can be found online. A passing score of 70% is required.
Concepts tested will include the following:
1. Basic and advanced web design tools/technologies must be understood and properly used for specific functions. Participants should know how to create image files, connect web pages to a database, publish/maintain a production website, and conduct effective Internet marketing.
2. Participants must know how to use web design principles in enhancing viewer experience and overall usability/accessibility.
3. The development process should be effectively understood. Participants should be able to meet customer expectations and adhere to legal restraints.
