The Cisco VPN Security Specialist certification validates the understanding and skills that enable the security professional to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of Cisco VPN security solutions. In order to be eligible for this certification, candidates must have a current CCNA Security certification. This prerequisite, along with participation in the Securing Networks with Cisco Routers and Switches, and Deploying Cisco ASA VPN Solutions v1.0 & v2.0 training courses, will develop the candidate's skills in the use of Cisco IOS software and Cisco ASA adaptive security appliance.
Acquiring the VPN Security Specialist certification requires passing two exams. The 642-637 Secure v1.0 is a 90 minute assessment that consists of 60 to 70 questions. Exam topics will cover Cisco IOS pre-production design, complex operations support, and advanced troubleshooting strategies. Each topic category will contain more specific related items.
The second exam component is the 642-648 Deploying Cisco ASA VPN Solutions exam. This 90-minute exam will include topics such as implementing ASA IP SEC S2S VPN, ASA AnyConnect SSL VPNs, SSL VPN High Availability, and identifying and implementing common Cisco ASA adaptive security appliance VPN configurations components. These topics are intended as a guide for preparation and do not represent the entire scope of content that is subject to appear on this exam.
