System engineers can become proficient in the configuration and distribution of IP telephony systems with a Cisco IP Communications Express Specialist certification. This is a foundational certification program that places focus on two programs: Cisco Call Manager Express (CCME) and Cisco Unity Express (CUE). Skills with the configuration of Unified Messaging Gateway, Unified Call Connector, and other telephony technologies will also be certified.
A CCNA certification must be held before taking the two required certification exams. The first, 642-145 Implementing Cisco IOS Unified Communications Part 2, will cover the implementation, configure and performance of Communications Manager technologies. The second, 650-393 Cisco Lifecycle Services Express, will center on the Cisco Lifestyle Services approach.
Knowledge of the associated programs, as well as the installation and maintenance of multi-service network solutions, is the backbone of this program. Field experience is a must, as is participation in the training courses (IIUC, IIUC2, and Cisco Lifestyle Services Express), that will review test information and strengthen your knowledge of basic and advanced IP communications competence. Recertification is mandatory every two years, which will require a passing score on an additional test provided by Cisco.
