The use of Cisco security appliances in designing, installing and managing firewall solutions is the core concept of the Cisco Firewall Security Specialist certification. With a background of security, solutions and Cisco products, the certification program will allow individuals to validate their skills regarding security solutions, adhering to firewall regulations and using such programs as the Cisco ASA adaptive security appliance.
Individuals who possess the CCNA Security certification are eligible for this specialist certification. Initially, two exams are required: Deploying Cisco ASA Firewall Solutions (642-618) and Securing Networks with Cisco Routers and Switches (642-637). These exams will cover basic solution information and specific knowledge of security requirements, deployment processes, environment and infrastructure settings, etc., which relate to the overall development and implementation of security solutions.
Because the Cisco Firewall Security Specialist certification is only credible for two years, specialists must pass one of four recertification exams offered by Cisco biannually to maintain certification and remaining current in the field. To prepare for these and the two initial exams, Cisco offers training for each exam. Data sheets and study documents are also prepared to gain knowledge of the exam and enhance your overall understanding of the topics.
