Cisco 352-001 Exam Description and Topics

The Cisco 352-001 CCDE V2.0 written exam replaces all previous versions of the CCDE exam. It measures a candidate's ability to problem solve in the areas of routing protocols, internetworking theory, and design principles. The exam addresses in-depth technical concepts in the areas of routing, tunneling, Quality of Service, cost, capacity, and security. The certification is intended only for Network Professionals with at least 5 years of experience in Network Engineering or Advanced Network Design. Candidates should expect to spend up to two hours in the testing process, and answer from 90-110 multiple-choice questions. No outside study materials are allowed in the testing center.

The Cisco 352-001 CCDE V2.0 written exam covers four different sections starting with layer two control planes, layer three control planes, network virtualization, and design considerations. Control plane questions will cover subjects such as describing fast convergence techniques and mechanisms, down detection, interface damping, switch clustering, flex links, fault isolation, route aggregation, and link state topology summarization. Other topics include suboptimal routing, aggregation location and techniques, traffic flow modification metrics, third-party next hop, protocol timers, loop-free alternates, recursion, iBGP scalability, and redistribution methods. Other network issues address tunneling for security, network extension, protocol integration, traffic optimization, parameter optimization, and various Quality of Service performance metrics. General questions will cover simulated problems and require an evaluation of possible solutions.
