CIPS A7 : An Introduction to Purchasing Strategy Exam
The CIPS A7 "Introduction to Purchasing Strategy" examination consists of 148 questions about basic knowledge of supply and corporate strategy when it comes to purchasing. Successful completion of this test will earn candidates and International Certificate and/or Advanced Certificate in Purchasing and Supply, offered only through CIPS. It is one of five exams that can be taken for this certification.
Studying materials consists of an in-depth textbook that will cover all general and specific information included on the exam. Success on the exam requires candidates to thoroughly review this textbook. Training courses are also available through CIPS in relation to purchasing and supply and may also be highly beneficial. The CIPS A7 exam is only available in the English language.
This exam will require knowledge of basic principles and strategies of purchasing. Participants will be asked to describe the elements of supply strategy, including standardization of purchased goods/services and overall systems, processes, and procedures. Features of corporate strategy and the relation of purchasing/supply to a company/organization should be known. Objectives of supply chain management, such as reducing costs and improving quality, will be tested. Participants should have experience with the supply positioning model and dealing with individual purchases.
