The CEP (CompTIA Cloud Essentials Professional) certification is offered through a partnership with the Cloud Computing Council, which is made up of organizations such as Cisco, EMC, ING, HP, and IBM. The CEP certification provides an individual with proof of their skills in cloud computing from a technical and business perspective. The certification also acknowledges that the candidate understands all aspects relating to moving to and governing the cloud.
Additionally, CEP technicians understand cloud types and the steps to successful adoption. Their daily job tasks require them to understand the impact and changes on IT service management when dealing with the cloud, as well as the related risks and consequences of using the cloud.
A CEP must also have a strong technical ability. Their daily technical tasks include configuring networks, as well as technologies related to archives, backups, and restoration. They also operate technologies related to business continuity, storage administration, system administration, troubleshooting, and connectivity.
Interested CEP candidates must pass the CLO-001 CompTIA Cloud Essentials exam, which has 50 questions and a duration of 60 minutes. Training and six months of related work experience are recommended, but not required before taking the exam.
