This highly respected networking certification is ideal for professionals who work to design complex, converged IP networks. Earning the CCDE (Cisco Certified Design Expert) certification will validate the skills and knowledge necessary to take on the most challenging network infrastructure design tasks. Candidates are encouraged have at least seven years of networking experience along with an understanding of network infrastructure principles and design. Candidates who previously earned the CCDA and/or CCDP certifications will benefit most from this certification.
Earning the CCDE (Cisco Certified Design Expert) certification involves passing a rigorous two-pronged exam process. The first exam requirement is the CCDE Written Exam (352-001), a two-hour assessment that contains between 90-110 questions and will test a candidate's knowledge of routing protocols, design principles, and network virtualization topics. Participants should also be prepared to address loop detection and mitigation protocols, multicast routing concepts, factors affecting convergence, QoS performance metrics, and technologies and tools used for network management. Other related topics will also be included.
The second exam requirement is the CCDE Practical Exam, which is an eight-hour scenario-based test that will assess the participant's skill level in analyzing design requirements, creating network and justifying network designs, and implementing a network design that is rooted in best practices. Candidates will apply their knowledge to choosing design choices based on current technical network design challenges businesses often confront. Additional tasks will be included within the course of this exam, therefore, candidates should prepare thoroughly.
